The city's Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau has announced ambitious plans to train 10,000 engineers annually, as reported by Xinhua News Agency.

The Beijing Digital Technology Skills Talent Training Implementation Plan adopts a comprehensive "order-based" training model, encompassing production, learning, and research. The focus will be on expanding vocational skills for corporate employees, with special emphasis on data officers and corporate managers. To achieve its objectives, the city will increase the number of training programs, blockchain talent forums, and innovation competitions.

The government is committed to casting a wide net by encouraging students from both general and technical colleges to apply to the training programs. Engineering technical talents will be categorized based on their occupations and levels to ensure targeted and effective training.

Upon completion of the training, individuals will be granted a prestigious "professional technical grade certificate" from the evaluation agency. This certificate will carry significant weight during the hiring process, offering preferential treatment to those with professional technical-level certifications.

In its pursuit of cultivating leading talents in digital technology, Beijing is urging all units to establish "chief data officers" and prioritize hiring digital technicians with relevant professional-level certificates.

The training initiative will not be limited solely to blockchain technology. Beijing aims to extend its focus to other cutting-edge innovations, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data.

Beijing's dedication to the blockchain technology is evident in its previous endeavors, including the two-year metaverse plan launched in August 2022 to enhance the tourism sector using blockchain. A recently published white paper outlines the city's commitment to investing up to $14 million annually in Web3 research and exploring new use cases.
