Bitcoin (BTC) Stays Under $27,000 as US Jobs Data Surges, Exceeding Expectations
June 4, 2023 · By Blockchain Headhunter
Bitcoin (BTC) maintains its sideways trading pattern near the $27,000 level, while recent data indicates positive US job figures surpassing expectations.
Newly released economic data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows a noteworthy increase in payroll employment for May, with a rise of 339,000. Although the unemployment rate experienced a slight uptick of 0.3%, reaching 3.7%, the overall job growth exceeded predictions.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the total nonfarm payroll employment in May saw a significant increase of 339,000. However, the unemployment rate also experienced a rise of 0.3 percentage point, reaching 3.7 percent.
Among the sectors that contributed to job gains were professional and business services, government, health care, construction, transportation and warehousing, as well as social assistance.
Katie Greifeld, an analyst and reporter for BloombergTV, highlights that the increase in job numbers surpassed earlier estimates. However, she also points out certain shortcomings in the job market, specifically concerning average hourly earnings, which rose by 4.3 percent year over year (falling slightly short of the estimated 4.4 percent increase), and the rising unemployment rate.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics' report reveals that in May, a significant number of individuals either completed temporary jobs or lost their existing employment, resulting in unemployment and offsetting the decreases observed in the previous month.
"The number of individuals who lost their jobs or completed temporary employment increased by 318,000, totaling 3.0 million in May, which counterbalanced the decrease observed in the previous month."
At the time of writing, the trading value of BTC stands at $27,106, indicating a slight increase over the past 24 hours.
