The convergence of Web3 in public consciousness and the peak value of BTC resulted in a record-breaking surge in searches for "crypto jobs" in 2022. Presently, "AI jobs" has also reached its pinnacle.
According to a recent analysis by CoinGecko, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as the unequivocal victor in the race for job seekers. The period from 2020 to 2022 witnessed a neck-and-neck competition between searches for "AI jobs" and "crypto jobs," with AI often claiming the lead. However, when Bitcoin reached an unprecedented high of $69,000 in November 2021, crypto took the forefront.
With the surging popularity of Web3 and cryptocurrency technologies, the crypto frenzy of 2022 attracted a substantial influx of job seekers, evident in the soaring number of Google searches. Nevertheless, the introduction of ChatGPT in November 2022 triggered a meteoric rise in searches for "AI jobs."
Based on the CoinGecko study, the peak number of searches for "AI jobs" in 2023 was nearly five times higher than the peak number of searches for "crypto jobs." As of July 5, the searches for "AI jobs" still remained four times higher.
According to the report, before BTC reached its record-breaking value of $69,000, searches for "AI jobs" outnumbered crypto-related queries by a ratio of 3-to-1. Nevertheless, after BTC hit the $69,000 mark, searches for "crypto jobs" surpassed AI searches twice:
“At its peak score of 26 on both January 9 and 30, 2022, search interest in ‘Crypto Jobs’ surpassed ‘AI Jobs’, and was also 5 times higher than its baseline in January 2020.”
CoinGecko employs a rank scoring system to gauge "search interest," using global Google search data. However, the researchers acknowledge that Google isn't the dominant search engine in all regions, implying that the outcomes may not accurately represent actual interest levels.
A significant discovery by the analysts reveals that Singapore possesses the top search interest rating worldwide for keywords such as "AI jobs" and "crypto jobs."
