Head of DevOps

Our client are looking for an experienced Head of DevOps who will play a vital role to advance their development and production infrastructure. This role is responsible for heading a combined DevOps and production support function.

Responsibilities

• Primary responsibility for this role is to provide direction (both technical and people-focused) for the team responsible for seeding and growing the DevOps culture in the organization for the company's software/solutions delivery platforms.
• Define and manage the roadmap for implementation of DevOps in an established operation.
• One of the main focus areas for the role is to transform development processes for existing applications software development into a Continuous Delivery-driven SDLC. Influence and educate development and QA teams to adjust working practices aligned with modern-day software development and delivery approaches (CI, CD, AWS).
• Infrastructure (mainly AWS) and software design, continuous delivery adoption/ transformation, Production, Non-Prod support, and planning and coaching are key responsibilities of this role.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 15+ years of work experience in the DevOps area supporting SDLC at scale.
• 8+ years of team management experience (including hiring, performance management, leadership) for a team of at least ten members.
• 10+ years of experience working with production systems and delivering products/solutions on Cloud platforms
• Excellent understanding of SDLC, patching, releases, and software development at scale. Solid knowledge of applied Agile process
• Continuous Integration and Delivery approaches - hands-on (at least five years) experience in working with CI / CD tools, frameworks and working with pipelines
• Strong knowledge and hands-on skills of cloud providers' offerings, AWS in particular (at least ten years)
• Strong understanding of how security fits into cloud-first DevOps and ensuring that all DevOps solutions are secure and robust. Prior experience with building DevOps solutions keeping penetration testing in view
• Experience in documenting and implementing disaster recovery procedures and BAU processes that can stand up to regulatory / compliance audit
